For Jordanian Omar Sartawi, transforming food into a wearable high-end accessory is his forte. Recently, the food artist cum molecular gastronomer created buzz on social media with his latest crafty innovation- a luxury bag made of orange peels!
To bring his eco-friendly creation to life, Sartawi dabbled in digital fabrication. The process however, wasn't smooth sailing as Sartawi confessed it took him a year to finally nail the technique.
Together with Bahraini designer, Noof AlShekar, the duo mashed luxury and fruit into a masterful illusion unlike any other. Using solely orange peels as the basis, they successfully created a convincing leather-like bag.
For the luxury appeal, the 'leather' was set upon gold brass plating and malachite stone.
