26-Sep-2021

Recently becoming the first South Korean Netflix show to become number 1 worldwide, Squid Game premiered on the 17th of September 2021, and took over the globe with its one-of-a-kind storytelling.

Since then, everyone has been all over it, and many theories, conspiracies, predictions as well as takeaways have flooded the internet.

As means to keep all you fans in the loop, we took the liberty of listing down some observations which surfaced. Without wasting anymore time, scroll below and get ready to go WOAH!

#1 II-Nam isn't scanned in the first game

During the red light-green light game, when the players were scanned by the doll to detect movement, it skips the old man, maybe an indication of how he wasn't a real player.

#2 The password to re-entering the game is the name of the first game

When Gi-Hun and the others decide to rejoin the game, and they await at the pick up point, the password given to the masked driver is 'red light green light'.

#3 The envelopes at the station signifies what your role would be upon entering the game

The envelopes shown by the man in a suit at the station, were both red and blue. What if red meant you claimed the role of the masked men, whereas blue meant that you were to enter the game as participants?

#4 The games were drawn on the walls of their dormitory

When there were only three players left, and all the beds had been removed, the designs on the walls of their dorm were visible, showing all the games they had previously played.

#5 Gi-Hun dyed his hair red to show a turn of tables

What if his red hair symbolized him returning to the game in season 2, as a masked player this time, in order to destroy it from within?

#6 The masked people are divided into social classes

https://image.goody25.com/images/catalog/60679/20210926_16326493467541_mobile.jpeg

Maybe circles were to represent the working class, squares the managers, and triangles (who had weapons) the military.

#7 The number 456

https://image.goody25.com/images/catalog/60679/20210926_16326494659381_mobile.jpeg

When betting on horses in the beginning of the show, Gi-Hun won 4.56 million, his number during the games was 456, and in the end he won 45.6 billion. Coincidence?

#8 A familial relationship between Gi-Hun and Il-Nam

https://image.goody25.com/images/catalog/60679/20210926_16326499592341_mobile.jpeg

When Gi-Hun speaks about milk, Il-Nam predicts that he was spanked a lot as a kid, and Gi-Hun is surprised that he knows.

When Gi-Hun and Il-Nam go to the mock-up of where they used to stay, they share the area as being similar to their own homes in the past.

The fact that Il-Nam cares more so for Gi-Hun as compared to anyone else in the game.

Surprised? We are too. Of course, mostly based on speculation, who's to say which is which. Nevertheless, we cannot wait to see what season 2 will bring.

In the mean time though, do join in the thrill and catch the full series now available on Netflix
