JOHOR BAHRU - An elderly man panicked and accidentally step on the oil pedal of his Perodua Axia car and hit the glass of a bank at the Bandar Baru Uda Business Center, here today.
In the incident at about 11.30am, the senior citizen in his 80s and his wife had just done business at the bank.
When trying to get out of the vehicle parking lot, the man is said to have first hit a car that was behind while reversing before being startled and step on the oil pedal and drive into glass window wall of a bank.
According to a bank employee, at the time of the incident there were no customers queuing long outside the main door and only three people who were sitting nearby rushed away when they saw the car suddenly sliding forward.
"During the incident, there were about 10 customers dealing while a staff working at the sales counter was only three meters from where the vehicle broke the mirror," he said.
