A missing bag containing RM1 million in cash was recently recovered after a brief disappearance following its collection from a bank at Ampang Point. The case, which sparked swift action by local authorities, was reported by Ampang Jaya Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail, who confirmed that a report was received at approximately 3:55 PM.
The incident involved a security company that had collected the cash from the bank but later discovered that the bag was missing. The report was initially highlighted by Sinar Harian, which detailed that the security company had been en route to Kuala Lumpur when the bag vanished.
In a new development reported by Harian Metro, Deputy Selangor Police Chief Datuk S Sasikala Devi confirmed that the bag had been located on November 6 and was subsequently handed over to the police. According to Sasikala, the bag was found on Jalan Hulu Kelang, leading to the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH) toward the city center, not long after the bag went missing.
Sasikala explained that the bag appeared to have fallen from the security van as it traveled a winding road on its route from Ampang Point to Kuala Lumpur. She stated that "the van was on its way from Ampang Point to Kuala Lumpur. The bag with RM1 million dropped in the middle of the road and was later found by a driver passing by."
The driver, who noticed the bag, promptly turned it over to the police. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, interviewing both the individual who discovered the bag and the security van staff to ascertain how the bag ended up on the road. Sasikala emphasized that the investigation is still in its preliminary phase, with further details expected as the inquiry unfolds.
This recovery has brought some relief to the police and the security company involved. However, questions remain about how the incident occurred, and police are working diligently to gather information about the chain of events leading to the bag's sudden drop.
The public is urged to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation, as the police continue to piece together the incident.
