The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JPBM) in Selangor is closely monitoring several areas across the state after flash floods impacted various locations. The continuous rain over the past few hours has led to rising water levels, disrupting traffic on major routes and raising concerns among residents and commuters.
Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, the Assistant Director of Operations for JPBM Selangor, confirmed that the department has not yet received any emergency calls directly related to the flash floods. "The fire department is only conducting monitoring, and no emergency calls have been received," Ahmad stated in a press release on Tuesday. This monitoring effort is intended to assess conditions on the ground and ensure swift action if any escalation occurs.
The adverse weather has significantly affected traffic, especially on key routes connecting Selangor to Kuala Lumpur. Sinar Harian reported that severe congestion occurred on Tuesday due to both flash floods and minor accidents. Among the affected areas are two major thoroughfares: Kilometer 3.3 of the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) and Jalan Kuala Selangor, where motorists faced delays this morning.
The rain's intensity has caused water to accumulate on roads, leading to slowed traffic flow and raising concerns over safety. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and stay informed about road conditions to avoid affected areas wherever possible. Authorities will continue to monitor the weather closely and provide updates as needed.
As flash floods remain a recurring issue in Selangor and other parts of Malaysia during the monsoon season, JPBM and local authorities are prepared to respond quickly should any emergency situations arise.
