Every Ramadan, religious authorities conduct raids to monitor Muslims who disrespect the fasting month. Undeniably, some individuals deliberately do not observe fasting, citing unreasonable excuses. This group is often referred to as the 'black plastic gang'. In a video uploaded by the Gerik District Religious Affairs Office on TikTok, Perak Islamic Religious Department Enforcement (JAIPk) officers are seen conducting a raid at a restaurant. As several enforcement officers approached the restaurant, a man wearing a helmet was seen dashing while carrying a black plastic bag believed to contain food, seemingly avoiding being apprehended.

Furthermore, the enforcement officers attempted to intercept the man for running away without assessing the situation. The video has sparked various reactions from netizens, with some claiming that the man left his motorcycle in front of the restaurant out of fear of being apprehended by the authorities. It cannot be confirmed whether the man running with the black plastic bag was not fasting or otherwise.
It is understood that enforcement officers can only apprehend individuals who deliberately eat in public during daylight hours during Ramadan.
According to a post on the JAIPk Enforcement Division's Facebook page, they conducted an operation called 'Ops Black Plastic Gang and Unauthorized Donation Collection' on March 14 in the Chemor, Chepor, and Meru areas.
