Taking a dip on the shoreline of the beach sounds like the perfect way to relax. Unfortunately, for two young men, this harmless activity has turned into a dire situation.
At 9:38 this morning, the Punggai Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received a call regarding two young men who had gone missing and drowned after taking a bath inside the waters Pantai Batu Layar, Bandar Penawar.
Operations Commander of the station, Mohammad Saifulizam Mohd Rofi, said in a statement that soon after the call, six members with machinery were swiftly moved to the location to begin a search and rescue operation.
"The arrival of the Operation Rescue Team (PKO) at the scene found that two adult men in their 20s had drowned while bathing at Batu Layar Beach."
"The distance from the coastline to the location where the victim was reported to have drowned is estimated to be approximately five kilometers (km)," he said in the statement.
As the operation is currently still underway, Mohd Rofi clarified that any further developments from this ongoing situation will be notified as soon as possible.
