"God has given me a body, and I must cherish it. I won't be easily defeated by my disabilities!"
In a video shared on TikTok by the user @bosmel, a visit to a disabled man selling paintings near a shopping area is documented.
The content creator explained that despite the man's inconsistent daily income, he appeared calm and had faith in the challenges given by a higher power.
The video shows the content creator commissioning a portrait while chatting with the man.
"Every day, I come to this shopping area in my wheelchair to sell paintings. It takes me about 20 minutes to get here from home," the man shared.
He added, "Sometimes, when it rains heavily and I can't go back home, I have to sleep here at the shopping area. The income from my paintings is just enough to buy food."
"Drawing requires a calm mind... I can't draw without being in the right mood. It's a job that depends on my feelings."
The content creator was moved by the man's story, particularly learning that he was once able-bodied. He became disabled following an accident and a severe fever.
When asked why he continues to paint on the street, the man's response touched many netizens.
"God has given us a body, and we should cherish it. Freedom of movement is precious and cannot be bought with money."
Though his paintings are priced at RM30 each, the man graciously accepted RM10 when the content creator mentioned that was all he could afford.
"We earn money just to live. Remember, money isn't everything," the man advised.
The content creator then offered the man RM50, which he initially refused but eventually accepted after much insistence.
In the comments section, many netizens were moved to tears by the man's heartfelt words and inquired about his location.
Some revealed that the man sells his paintings near the Maybank in Wangsa Maju, encouraging others to support him.
