Pattaya police are investigating a shocking case where a man stabbed his stepfather in the head during an argument over frying an egg. The incident occurred on Sunday at a rented room in Soi Paniadchang 8, Central Pattaya.
Police patrol units and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation quickly responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim, Krisada Matcha, 36, covered in blood and running down the stairs for help. A sharp knife was visibly lodged in his head.
Rescue workers provided first aid to Krisada before rushing him to Banglamung Hospital for further medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the victim's stepson, Sathaporn Chieaplaem, 35, was found at the scene, waiting to be questioned by the authorities. Sathaporn, who also sustained injuries to his head, admitted to stabbing his stepfather. He claimed the violent act was in self-defense, alleging that his stepfather had attacked him first.
According to Sathaporn, the altercation started when his stepfather struck him on the head with a soup bowl, causing injuries. Enraged, Sathaporn retaliated by grabbing a sharp knife and stabbing his stepfather.
Further investigation revealed that the two often argued due to Sathaporn's dissatisfaction with his stepfather living with his mother. On the day of the incident, a seemingly trivial dispute about frying an egg escalated into a violent confrontation.
Sathaporn is currently in police custody and is being questioned at the Pattaya Police Station as authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
