With the rising cost of living, people expect to pay more for food, but what's frustrating is when portion sizes shrink while prices remain high. A recent viral post on TikTok has reignited this debate.
A TikTok user, @azfar55, recently shared a photo comparing the size of his murtabak to his car key. The shocking comparison revealed that the dish was barely larger than the key, leaving many netizens stunned.
Adding a humorous touch, he captioned, "I just wanted to show off my car key I bought two years ago. Its quite big, right?" The sarcasm struck a chord with many, sparking heated discussions online.
Curious followers asked about the price, to which he revealed it cost RM6. He explained that he had purchased it from a stall in Bangi, Selangor, where no price signs were displayed, nor was there any mention that the murtabak was a "mini version."
By the time he got home around 7 PM and unwrapped his meal, he was stunned by its tiny size. The portion was so small that his 5-year-old child finished it before he could even get a taste.
"I didnt even get to eat any of it; my kid finished it alone," he shared.
This incident has struck a nerve with many consumers, who have noticed similar trendshigher prices but shrinking portions. Some joked about food undergoing "mysterious shrinking transformations," while others called for businesses to be more transparent with pricing and portion sizes.
As food prices continue to rise, many are left wondering: Will they soon be paying premium prices for portions that barely fill them up?
