Based on transport minister Anthony Loke it’s out with the old and in with the new!
During a press conference, he noted how the old ways of measuring if someone is speeding on the highway, will be replaced with a more effective strategy.
Before: Cameras at certain points that capture if you’re speeding
After: A system to measure the time per distance between cameras.
This means that if you arrive at camera point B earlier than the time set, you would be reprimanded for speeding.
According to him, many drivers slow down at the cameras, and then speed once again when they’re in the clear.
This new method will clearly indicate any illegal act of speeding on the highway with more accuracy.
He noted that this new measure is in progress, and will hopefully rollout by this year.
Possible implementation of this new system will start at high-risk spots like: Karak highway to Genting and the Menora tunnel at Ipoh.
The system aims to reduce road accidents, and bring awareness as well as discipline to drivers.
