Malaysia has been all up in rank lists these days, and we’ve come across the next one: The Coldplay Wristband Recycling Leaderboard!
Before miss ma’am Taylor Swift, there was Coldplay, who played 6 nights in Singapore and 1 night in Malaysia, end of last year and the beginning of this.
For their Music of the Spheres World Tour, concert organisers requested that attendees return the LED wristbands (AKA xylobands) borrowed to audiences, after the concert. The bands were given so attendees could be a part of the concert’s immersive light show.
From there, a leaderboard was created for all the countries Coldplay has toured to, alongside their % of discipline to return said bands. Here’s the chart!
Japan has been in the lead with 97% return, while Malaysia stands at #9 on the board with 90% and Singapore #8 with 91%.
According to sources, the free wristbands cost approximately £400,000 (RM2,409,960.16) a night!
On the group’s website, they have also stated that collecting, sterilising, and recharging the wristbands after every show, have reduced their wristband production by 80%.
So, we think good job Malaysia?!
