It’s easy to think that a brand belongs to one’s country when you’re so used to needing it in your daily life.
Take batik for instance, is it Indonesian? Is it Malaysian? The confusion still exists among many.
In Indonesia, Maybank has become so famous, that many have mistaken it for a local brand. Besides that, the brand Fipper too, has gotten a somewhat similar impression.
Despite being Malaysian, the wide-selling of Fipper in Indonesian shopping centres, has caused many to relate to the brand as a fashion piece originating from Thailand.
Another brand is Airasia. Malaysia’s leading budget airline is so popular in Indonesia, that many regard the brand as Indonesian, instead of Malaysian.
Besides that, owner Tony Fernandez also opened a headquarter in Jakarta, as means to further strengthen its presence in Indonesia.
Confusion aside though, all three Maybank, Fipper and Airasia are loud & proud Malaysian. But we’re honored to have made such an impact, nonetheless!
