Those who have received the COVID-19 Sinovac vaccine in Malaysia, including the recipients above the age group of 60, will be required to obtain their Booster shot by February 2022. Failing to do so might cause their full vaccination privileges to be retracted, according to the Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin.
This announcement is in line with the growing concern of the Omicron variant spread in the country, which has now detected two cases, albeit coming from abroad. The newest requirement for Sinovac recipients is also in accordance with the guidance from the World Health Organisation (WHO ).
In our effort to ramp up booster shot, mega PPVs will be reopened starting with Klang Valley. All 60 & above or Sinovac recipients must get a booster latest by Feb 2022 to keep fully vaccinated status. #PICKBooster p>— Khairy Jamaluddin (@Khairykj) December 16, 2021
Should the Sinovac recipient fail to obtain their Booster shot within the time frame given, "their MySejahtera status will turn white, which indicates that you are not fully vaccinated,'' said Khairy KJ.
