You know how some of us love to bring our pet dogs everywhere, but given that the majority of spots here aren't dog-friendly, it's often a no-go.
However, a recent incident involving two individuals dining at a mamak restaurant in Bukit Beruntung with their pet dog sitting on a chair has sparked anger among locals.
The photo of this scene went viral, and many people were upset by their behaviour, seeing it as disrespectful to both Muslim customers and the restaurant owner, as it's a Halal establishment.
The owner later explained that his workers were unaware that customers had brought a dog onto the premises. Only one of the individuals was present when they initially placed an order, then only the person with the dog arrived later.
However when the presence of the dog was noticed, one of the workers reprimanded the customers, and they subsequently apologized and left the restaurant.
The restaurant owner shared the incident on social media along with photos of his worker cleaning and purifying (samak) the table and chair where the dog had sat to ensure it would be safe for use by Muslim patrons.
Many netizens commended the owner's swift response but also suggested that the restaurant should display signage warning against bringing pets onto the premises. Some comments also encouraged others to be more considerate and to not let such incidents happen again. If you had witnessed this situation, how would you have reacted?
