A disturbing incident at a convenience store in Subang Bestari, Selangor, has sparked a police investigation after a man allegedly exposed himself and committed an obscene act in front of customers.
The incident came to light when an 18-year-old woman, who was at the store with a friend, lodged a police report on Monday, October 7. According to her statement, the man, who was seated at a nearby table, suddenly exposed himself while she was engaged in conversation.
Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor, chief of the Sungai Buloh police district, confirmed the incident, stating that the man's indecent behavior caused the woman and her friend to leave the store in a state of shock and distress.
The police have since initiated an investigation under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which addresses offenses that insult a person's modesty. The section stipulates that those found guilty of such an act could face up to five years in prison, a fine, or both.
Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance. Any witnesses or individuals with information about the suspect or the incident are encouraged to come forward and assist in the investigation.
