Sometimes when in between the sheets with a partner, things can get a little too passionate and the next thing you know your partner is giving your neck some vampire kisses, if you know what I mean.
While it felt good while it was happening, the next morning you have to spend some extra time finding an outfit that covers it and it you can’t find any then, you’ll have to spend extra time covering it up with make-up.
Ugh, so annoying but it certainly wasn’t annoying the night before.
Well, you have to face the consequences of your actions, so here are some tried and tested ways that apparently do a good job getting rid of the love bites:
1. Cold Spoon / Cold Compress
Just like a new bruise, applying a cold compress or a chilled spoon on a hickey will slow down the blood flow from the broken capillaries which reduces the size of the bruise.
Chill a spoon in the freezer for 30 minutes then apply it directly on the hickey for 10 minutes. Repeat until the bruise begins to lighten.
It is actually much easier to use an ice pack or a damp cloth. But the spoon is the most effective!
2. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera pulp can reduce inflammation and swelling. So, freeze the aloe vera in an ice tray to double down the cold power and the aloe’s natural power.
Then, apply the frozen aloe gel to the hickey repeatedly and continuously until the hickey begins to lighten.
3. Massage with toothbrush
Use the new toothbrush with stiff bristles and massage the area gently. Be careful though! Rubbing too hard and too much can make the bruising worse!
So, be sure to be extremely gentle. Once you’re done with the toothbrush massage, keep your hands and all other items away from the hickey. Disturbing it too much will just irritate it more.
4. Peppermint Oil
One of the most effective ingredients that heals bruises like hickeys is menthol and guess what oil has it? Peppermint oil. All you have to do is add two drops of peppermint oil to 15 drops of a carrier oil like jojoba or almond oil. You will need a carrier oil because undiluted peppermint oil can irritate the skin.
After mixing the oils together, you should do a skin test first to make sure that you’ve properly diluted it. After you’re sure that it has been diluted enough, massage the oil gently on the effected area.
5. Banana Peel
The best thing about this fruit isn’t that it tastes just amazing but the banana peel also it home to so many vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants.
After finishing your delicious banana, apply the peel directly to the hickey for 30 minutes or until the banana peel becomes brown.
Do it two or three times a day but if your skin starts showing signs of irritation then stop.
