The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) has predicted that flood will most likely occur in four states in Malaysia, namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Johor , starting this Friday (31st December) and Saturday (1st January) following a continuous rain warning recently issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia).
• KELANTAN
Flood is expected to occur specifically in Kelantan starting at 8 PM on December 31st in the Kelantan River Basin, which involves the districts of Gua Musang, Kuala Krai, Jeli, Tanah Merah and Machang. Besides that, the Sungai Golok Basin, involving the districts of Tanah Merah (Jenob) and Pasir Mas (Rantau Panjang) as well as the surrounding areas are also at risk.
• TERENGGANU
In Terengganu, at-risk areas include Besut River Basin in the Besut district as well as the Terengganu River Basin and its surrounding areas.
• PAHANG
Pahang is expected to start flooding at 8 AM, Thursday, which involves the areas of the Pahang River Basin in Maran, Temerloh, and Jerantut districts, apart from the Kuantan River Basin involving Kuantan district (Sungai Lembing) ; while the Rompin River Basin involves the Rompin district and its surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, in the area of the Mersing River Basin, the food will likely occur in the Mersing district and its surrounding areas.
