Residents of an apartment complex in Kepong are facing a disturbing and ongoing issue as a man has been repeatedly throwing his excrement out of his window, turning the back alley into a health hazard. The foul-smelling problem, which has persisted for over a year, has left residents at Block E struggling with the stench and unsanitary conditions.
According to residents, the man, who lives on the first floor, has been discarding his waste almost daily by wrapping it in newspapers and tossing it out the window. This has caused unsuspecting pedestrians and vehicles to accidentally step in or come into contact with the excrement, further spreading the odor throughout the area.
One resident from Block B shared that he has witnessed the man throw out his waste one or two times a day, creating an unbearable environment for the community. Despite numerous complaints to the Residents Association, the problem has continued with no resolution in sight.
In addition to his unsanitary habit, the man is also reported to make loud noises in the early hours of the morning, between 3 am and 5 am, disturbing residents' sleep and adding to their frustration.
Frustrated with the ongoing issue, a local community activist, Yu Bao Ping (transliteration), stepped in to confront the man. When approached, the man initially denied throwing anything from his window, repeatedly claiming that his home had no water. However, after further questioning, he confessed to the act, explaining that he had been without water in his unit for the past two years.
The man explained that due to the lack of water, he had resorted to disposing of his waste by wrapping it in newspapers and throwing it out the window. He also blamed the unit above him for causing a blockage in his pipes, though after an inspection, Yu and his team found no signs of blockage in the water meter and suggested that the issue may be due to old and clogged pipes.
To address the situation, Yu stated that a plumber would be brought in to repair the pipes and install new PVC plumbing to restore water to the man's unit. The man also promised to stop throwing his excrement out the window, and Yu assured residents that he would continue to monitor the situation to ensure the promise was kept.
While the man's commitment to change has given some hope, residents remain cautious, hoping that the plumbing repairs and ongoing oversight will finally put an end to the distressing ordeal.
