ICYMI: Thoughtful Gesture To Grab Rider Touches Hearts
A visually impaired couple and a child had to endure a harrowing ordeal when they were trapped in a lift at an LRT station. A viral video on TikTok showed them trying to find a way to open the doors and escape the situation which unfolded at the Bandar Tasik Selatan light rail transit (LRT) station.
The woman in the video was seen trying to communicate for help while the father frantically pushed buttons in hopes of getting assistance. Passersby were also seen trying to open the doors from outside.
It was unclear how long they were stuck inside the lift before help arrived. The video was uploaded by a woman named Hidayah Al Ehsan on her TikTok account which garnered over 94,800 views so far.
The incident exposed the alarming vulnerabilities faced by visually impaired individuals in everyday situations while also showing the need to improve accessibility and emergency response systems.
TikTok user Zayzack0 said that they might have been facing a panic attack at the time of the incident. "Allahu, pity them, panic attack, drop in oxygen with a young child," he said.
Others prayed that the three were quickly rescued.
