Some may argue that having a coffee session without discussing politics can be dull. According to a report by China Press, the kopitiam owner in Alor Setar, known as Chen, clarified that the notice prohibiting political talk was not put up by him.
Instead, it was posted by a regular customer after a heated argument between two political party supporters. One of them sought permission to display the notice. After two hours, another customer also wanted to put up a similar notice, but Chen allowed only one notice to be posted.
Initially, the notice sparked questions from many customers, and Chen emphasized that his kopitiam is open to political discussions. He intended to remove the notice after the two customers left but got busy and eventually forgot about it.
The notice was then photographed and spread on social media. Chen mentioned that one of his employees disposed of the notice after it became viral.
