A disturbing video has recently gone viral, showing a man inhumanely dragging a cat by its neck using a rope at a condominium in Old Klang Road, Malaysia. The heartbreaking footage shows the helpless cat struggling, howling in pain, and even urinating due to the agony inflicted on it.
The video quickly garnered widespread outrage online, prompting the Malaysia Animal Association to step in. Its president, Arie Dwi Andika, confirmed that the organization was alerted to the incident by concerned members of the public.
In a Facebook post, Arie urged the person who filmed the video to file a police report and assist in identifying the suspect. He also announced a RM3,000 reward for anyone willing to come forward, lodge a report, and provide witness testimony to ensure the abuser faces justice.
"We cannot give anyone any reason to escape punishment. The authorities have to act to serve justice," Arie stated firmly, echoing the sentiments of many animal lovers.
Thanks to the swift efforts of the Brickfields police, the suspect was apprehended on November 24 at approximately 6:10 PM. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa revealed that the 43-year-old man was arrested at his residence by the Brickfields Serious Crimes Investigation Unit (D9).
The suspect is now under police remand as investigations proceed under Section 428 of the Penal Code, which penalizes acts of animal cruelty.
In their statement, the police emphasized the importance of community assistance in tackling such cases. They urged anyone with additional information about the incident to contact the Brickfields Police hotline at 03-22979222 or visit the nearest police station.
