A four-month-old baby boy tragically passed away at an unlicensed nursery in Bandar Saujana Putra last Friday. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act.
Kuala Langat district police chief Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi reported that the police received a call at 3.29 pm on January 3 from a doctor at a local clinic in Bandar Saujana Putra. The doctor stated that an unconscious infant had been brought to the clinic by a caregiver from the daycare.
"The baby appeared pale with bluish lips and feet and showed no signs of breathing. The complainant immediately performed CPR and provided oxygen while waiting for an ambulance to transport the baby to Putrajaya Hospital," Akmalrizal said in a statement.
At approximately 4.35 pm, the baby arrived at Putrajaya Hospital, where medical personnel continued CPR for over 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the infant showed no signs of recovery and was pronounced dead at 5.05 pm.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the nursery was operating without a valid license, with the application for approval still pending. Statements have been taken from the nursery operator and staff, though no arrests have been made at this time.
