A total of 34 human bone fragments were found behind the abandoned Public Works Department (JKR) quarters near Kuala Terengganu last night.
Kuala Terengganu Police Chief, Azli Mohd Noor, confirmed that authorities received information regarding the discovery at approximately 10:10 PM.
Following the report, an investigation was conducted at the scene by the District Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD) in collaboration with the Forensic Team from the Terengganu Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ). The location of the discovery was near Pantai Batu Burok 2, within a bushy area beside a dry, waterless drain, approximately 40 meters from the shoreline at high tide.
"All the bone fragments and pieces found were collected for investigation and will be sent to the Pathology Unit and the Chemistry Department for further analysis," Azli stated, as reported by Berita Harian.
Authorities will also conduct further investigations to determine whether the site was previously an old burial ground or privately owned land.
"The effort to identify the victim depends on medical and chemical examinations, which will help establish key details such as gender, estimated time of death, and other crucial information," he added.
