Some medical staff at the Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu are placed under quarantine as a 55-year-old patient who was admitted to  for emergency surgery they treated turned out tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement released by the Facebook page of the hospital.

It is mentioned in the statement that as the latest COVID-19 protocol of the hospital requires the patients to be tested for COVID-19, “the patient was swabbed prior to her procedure”, but because her surgery is really urgent, “the hospital proceeded by treating the patient as a suspected case while awaiting the COVID-19 test results.
