A TikTok video has gone viral and it depicts a clip of firefighters rescuing a student whose leg became trapped in a drain grill at a secondary school in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
The student, who was wearing a firefighters helmet for protection, was surrounded by adults, believed to be teachers, who appeared amused in the video, and also irritated by the situation.
The firefighters used specialized equipment to free the boy's leg, breaking part of the grill in the process. The commotion was loud as the metal was pried apart.
Fortunately the mission was successful and the student's classmates cheered in response.
After being freed, the student rolled up his pants to reveal a bruise near his knee.
Comments on the TikTok suggest that the incident will likely be memorable for the school, especially as the boy prepares for his upcoming SPM exams.
One user humorously predicted that the student might carry the nickname 'the boy in the grill' for years to come.
Many also praised the quick response of the firefighters, with some even suggesting that the experience could inspire the boy to perhaps pursue a career in firefighting.
