While speeding can provide an adrenaline rush, it is a reckless action that not only endangers the life of the driver but also poses a threat to others on the road. That said, this local female driver grabbed the attention of netizens by exceeding the speed limit on a highway on Thursday.

The viral video shows the driver, accompanied by a friend in the front passenger seat, speeding at 180 kilometres per hour (km/h) during the incident. The driver of the pink interior Perodua car, which seemed to be either an Axia is suspected of intentionally violating traffic rules, despite being aware of the wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, the road appears to be clear without traffic congestion during the incident. Drawing criticism on social media, netizens urge the police to arrest the driver for the offence of exceeding the speed limit.

"Not valuing life, driving at over 180 km/h with a mini-sized car is dangerous; the tires could burst or the car could overturn," commented one netizen.

For the record, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) reports that offences such as exceeding speed limits and running red lights captured by the Automatic Awareness Safety System (AwAS) camera are among the top five offences that will face court action and cannot be compounded.

If found guilty, the driver could face a fine of up to RM2,000 under Section 79 of the Road Transport Act 1987. However, the location of the incident is not disclosed in the video, and the public with information is urged to report to the nearest police station for further investigation.
