5 recovered COVID-19 patients from Sandakan and Kinabatangan were found to be still infected by the virus in a follow-up test two days later.
According to the report from the state's Health Department on April 18, there were 19 patients in Sandakan and 16 in Kinabatangan had recovered. But the number was revised 2 days later, with 17 recoveries in Sandakan and 13 in Kinabatangan.

The Sabah Health Department Datuk Dr. Christina Rundi explained that all the patients are considered to be fully recovered after having two negative test results for COVID-19 in a row.
She added that 5 patients subsequently came up positive in a follow-up test after being discharged.
“It's important to ensure that they are treated until they fully recover, ” said Christina on Tuesday (April 21).
As of Tuesday (April 21), Sabah has 308 COVID-19 positive cases and 118 of them are still undergoing treatment.
