While it’s true that some English-speaking countries failed to perform well in containing the coronavirus, blaming it on the language they use sounds quite absurd.
However, this is exactly what this news discussion program in Japan did.
In a video uploaded on Twitter, the program can be seen explaining why some English-speaking countries had not been doing better with the coronavirus situation compared to Japan. And the reason is ‘pronunciation’.
An experiment in which a Japanese woman saying ‘This is a pen’ to a thin paper in both English and Japanese was conducted. The experiment showed English pronunciation emits more air, suggesting that an infected person is more likely to spread the virus if the person speaks English.
HOW DID NETIZENS RESPOND?
People who saw this started to demonstrate how the two languages can actually be pronounced in two different ways: violently and softly.
It is just ridiculous blaming the spread of coronavirus on the pronunciation as it doesn’t make sense at all! Glad that the netizens came up with such hilarious responses to prove the TV show wrong.
