More than 15,000 restaurants around the country will start offering Menu Rahmah dishes as of today for RM5, in an effort to give the less fortunate a nutritious meal.
The initiative, according to Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, is a collaboration between several restaurant organizations.
That includes Mydin, Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners Association (Primas), Malaysian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association (Presma), and Malaysian Tom Yam Restaurant Owners Association (Pertom) who were all involved with the project.
Because this is being done to help folks, each lunch or dinner menu will provide a balanced meal that includes rice, a choice of protein like chicken or fish, and vegetables. Just because it's affordable doesn't indicate that the quality of the food will be compromised.
The Menu Rahmah is a sustainable initiative, according to Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin, managing director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd.
Chicken, sambal, and packaging have all been taken into account in the correct calculations. Even when the profit isn't significant, there is still some. And this just indicates that the project may continue for a longer length of time as there will be no loss.
