Who knew a virtual escapade would lead to a nightmare of extortion and humiliation?
A mechanic from Perak found himself at the mercy of a cunning woman he met online, as revealed by the Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.
The police received a report from the 30-year-old man, who claimed that the woman had threatened to share his nude videos on social media if he failed to comply with her demands.
It all started innocently enough, with the mechanic connecting with a woman named Yaya on Facebook.
Their online relationship seemed promising until Yaya lured him into a video call, claiming she had something "special" to share. Little did he know, this encounter would forever change his life.
To his astonishment, the mechanic found himself face-to-face with a nude Yaya engaging in explicit acts.
Caught off guard, he made a grave mistake by responding in kind, unaware that Yaya was secretly recording their video call.
It was only after the call ended that he received a chilling message from Yaya to pay up, or face the consequences of having his intimate moments shared on social media.
Fearful of the potential fallout, the desperate mechanic succumbed to Yaya's demands. In a series of online transactions, he transferred a staggering sum of RM200,000 to five different bank accounts, as directed by his manipulative tormentor.
But little did he know that his ordeal was far from over.
In a swift response, the Perak police sprang into action upon receiving his report. The case is now being investigated under Section 384 of the Penal Code, which deals with extortion.
If convicted, the perpetrator could face up to 10 years in prison, hefty fines, or even whipping.
As news of this distressing incident spreads, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri issued a stern warning to the public.
He urged everyone to exercise caution when interacting with strangers on social media, highlighting the risks of being lured into compromising situations and becoming victims of extortion.
