Albert Einstein is arguably the most important scientist of the 20th century. He has been crowned "The Father of Modern Physics" and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. The well-respected genius has left our generation countless photos to remember him with, but have you noticed that they are almost always a half body shot?
Born in Germany to Jewish parents, Einstein has contributed generously to the world through his physics theory. He discovered the law of photoelectric effect (which partly led to his Nobel Prize), developed the theory of relativity, and proposed the mass-energy equivalence formula, which ended up as "the world's most famous equation".
Life, however, wasn't just plain old physics for Einstein as he had some interesting parts in his life (did you know he loved to skip school?). The famous picture showing Einstein sticking his tongue out for a photo should be proof of that.
So, why do our books only show the top half of Einstein? There are no shortages of full body shot of the German genius, but looking at one, you might figure out why the world wants to keep this out of your hands. Turns out, Einstein loves to rock a pair of shorts and women's sandals.
It is also said that Einstein hates wearing socks as he always ended up making holes in them when he was younger. To him, the socks were too restricting on the movement of his toes.
If he can't find his own sandals, he was forced to put on shoes. But shoes without socks just felt weird to him, so one day, he decided to give his wife's sandals a try. It was "love at first sandal". From then on, he was seen wearing women's sandals most of the time.
The outfit definitely did not go with his demeanor but it just goes to show that he just doesn't care and can be himself!
