What To Eat & Drink At The Insta-Worthy Food Haven: Tiffin At The Yard

By storyteller24

In the century-old, restored and hip hangout spot, Sentul Depot, you'll find Tiffin At The Yard. Open from 5pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and from 10am on weekends, Tiffin will take your tastebuds on a gastronomic journey. The ever-changing vendors are all amazingly curated, creating a culinary playground for chefs to experiment, collaborate, and showcase their masterpieces.

Although the vendors rotate now and again, we thought we'd highlight some that have caught our attention. A few of these culinary experts and enthusiasts already have existing restaurants or businesses around the Klang Valley, so fret not if they're not at Tiffin when you visit! Check out their website for the current vendors, so you'll know what to expect.

The food here is pork-free, though they have two cocktail bars for those who enjoy a tipple. The wine and Tiger beer bars will usually feature drinks hand-picked by some of the top bartenders in Kuala Lumpur, along with the occasional art and music events there. Follow them on Instagram for the latest updates on exciting events!

Payment terms here are cashless, so you needn't worry about not having cash on hand. Now, without further ado, let's look at some of the talents at Tiffin and why you should sink your teeth into the fare.

1. Coopers by W1

W1 is no stranger in the Telawi, Bangsar neighbourhood. Coopers at Tiffin is W1s newest endeavour, serving classic British comfort food. Nothing is more comforting than a traditional hot pie filled with minced beef, duck confit, or mushroom and spinach, served with mashed potato and gravy.

W1s signature Scotch Egg is a must-try the yellow molten egg yolk covered in a deep-fried golden brown beef crust. Mmm, we are already salivating.

2. DDCC (Dan Dan & Che Chem)

You wont be able to resist DDCCs traditional Malaysian dishes that come with a touch of fusion. Their glorious Nasi Ulam Daging Kerutop and Nasi Ulam Bunga Telang will tantalise your tastebuds.

If you're not looking for a full meal, be prepared to be blown away by their Crispy Cajun Nachos with Sambal Aioli. When not at Tiffin, you can find them at their Glenmarie or TTDI outlet.

3. Flavours of the East

While this humble-looking plate of rice may look very simple, sometimes its the most basic thing in life that brings you ultimate comfort on a rainy day. Sizzled in a claypot dish, the smokiness and flavour of the spices come bursting through, making it the perfect bowl of soul food. Don't believe us? Then we suggest giving it a try for yourselves.

4. Fratelli's Pastificio

When translated, Fratelli's Pastificio means brothers pasta factory. Started by Italian owners Andrea and Filippo, they promise to bring you only the freshest, hand-made, most authentic Italian meals. Making fresh pasta in Italy is a way of life, and this passionate duo wants to get that tradition of freshly-made pasta here for all to enjoy.

Made from Italian doppio zero '00' durum wheat flour and kampung eggs, their pasta has a unique silky-soft texture and rich flavour. Definitely worth the calories if you're making a trip to Tiffin.

5. Getting Tanned

Baked to perfection, Getting Tanned's croissants simply look irresistible. These flaky pastries are excellent choices for breakfast or brunch, paired with a cup of coffee. With many flavours to choose from like the classic French Butter, Pain Au Chocolate, Almond, Truffle Tuna, Smoked Duck & Cheese, Mushroom Asparagus, and more. The one question that remains is, are you team sweet or team savoury? Or both?

6. HEJAÜ

HEJAÜ puts a whole new meaning into going green. Get your matcha fix here in a variety of different mixes. Of course, you can never go wrong with the classic Matcha Latte, but you must try their Tiffin At The Yard exclusive, The Datai. This blend will transport you to Langkawi's beaches with a mix of mango, cucumber and calamansi juices, asam boi, and matcha.

Besides at Tiffin, You can also find HEJAÜ at The Gasket Alley and Arcoris in Mont Kiara. Psst, their signature Matcha Polo Bun with salted butter is a must-try!

7. Jaslyn Cakes & Pulp Coffee

Jaslyn's home-baked goods are made fresh daily, using quality ingredients. Paired with a good cup of coffee from Pulp, you'll be ready to tackle the day ahead. Or, if you prefer, all set for a good tea time.

8. Leen's Middle East Kitchen

At Leen's, casual Middle Eastern food is served with a modern twist. Syrian chef, Alzalek, brings a taste of his hometown to you through eats like Pulled Lamb Toasties, Beef Shawarmas, and Charred Chilli Hummus. There is also Shawarma Fries, which is definitely not your standard shawarma wrap with fries in it.

Instead, its a bowl of deep-fried tater tots, topped with chicken shawarma freshly cut from the rotisserie, toum (Middle Eastern garlic sauce), chilli mayo, and jalapeño pesto salsa. Honestly, we're already drooling just thinking about it.
