Amidst Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's oath-taking ceremony, former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin convened his own press statement denouncing it.
"For the sake of the confidence of the rakyat, Anwar should prove that he has the support of the majority of members of the Dewan Rakyat," he stated during the press conference.
The Perikatan chairman insisted that that he has 115 MPs' statutory declarations (SDs), which would have given him the authority to form the government. He emphasised that the SDs had been sent to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun in accordance with the requirements and at the deadline specified by the palace.
"I believe at that point, I enjoy the majority of confidence from the members of the Dewan Rakyat," Muhyiddin added.
