In a recent announcement, the Ministry of Finance expressed its dedication to preventing any misuse of the eMadani eWallet program. They highlighted that they would take serious steps, like suspending accounts and removing credit privileges from recipients, if any misuse is identified.
These measures are being put in place in response to instances of 'peer-to-peer' transfers or cash redemptions, which go against the intended goals of the program.
The eMadani initiative was introduced to propel the digital economy forward and encourage cashless transactions, aiming to modernize financial practices across the nation.
Emphasizing responsibility, the ministry stated, "The MOF cannot be responsible for any losses incurred from 'peer-to-peer' transfers or cash redemptions."
They emphasized that eMadani credit should only be used for physical purchases using designated e-wallets such as MAE, Setel, ShopeePay, and Touch 'n Go eWallet, or through QR DuitNow at 1.8 million retailers and businesses nationwide. The use of eMadani credit for 'peer-to-peer' transfers or cash redemptions is strictly prohibited.
To prevent risks, the public is advised to be cautious of offers on social media promising cash redemption services or unauthorized 'peer-to-peer' eMadani credit transfers. This warning aims to protect eMadani beneficiaries from falling victim to scams and losing their credited amounts.

"The MOF won't take responsibility for any losses due to such unauthorized actions," stressed the ministry.
The eMadani initiative, providing a one-time cash credit of RM100, is available until February 20. It aims to assist and benefit 10 million eligible adult citizens, with RM1 billion allocated for this purpose.
As the program aims to offer financial support to eligible citizens, the ministry urges responsible and lawful use of eMadani credit while cautioning against unauthorized practices that could harm the initiative's credibility and mission.
