Netizens are touched by the strong determination of community nurses in Pitas, Sabah navigating small boats to cross rivers and reaching their patients.
In a TikTok video that went viral, these unsung heroes were assigned to rural areas and had to board a small boat and walk to the home of a patient who delivered her baby.

Despite facing challenging journeys, including navigating small boats to cross rivers, it doesn't deter Community Nurses assigned to rural and interior areas of Sabah from providing the best service to patients.
In the video, the nurse, alongside a colleague, boards a small boat wearing white uniforms smeared with mud, visibly concerned throughout the journey.
Their story caught the attention of netizens, with many offering prayers for the safety of the nurses who had to face such challenging conditions, especially those serving in rural and remote areas.
"For the sake of their duties, they are willing to do anything. This is called dedication. May all their tasks be eased, and may blessings be abundant," says user @bos_gaurus84
"The ministry should have provided safety jackets if they are aware that the village's area is like this," says user @effashahirah446.
"Decades ago, this is what public servants, especially teachers from Peninsular Malaysia went through, sowing their contributions in Sabah and Sarawak for the sake of the country," user @megatrizalOMA said.
Earlier this week, Senator Dr A Lingeshwaran brought up the plight of these community nurses not being entitled to the 10 per cent critical service allowance, urging the Health Ministry to review its decision in Dewan Rakyat.
Doctors get 5 per cent of their basic monthly salary as hardship allowance while staff nurses are given 10 per cent.
The former Sungai Bakap hospital director suggested that all civil servants working in the interior be given a rural hardship allowance.
"These nurses risk life and limb travelling across dangerous rivers and hilly terrain.
"They ride motorcycles to reach deep interior areas and use small boats to cross rivers.
"She did the TikTok clip not just for herself, but the whole profession," he was quoted as saying.
