The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) apprehended an Israeli man who had entered Malaysia under false pretenses. The suspect, utilizing a French passport, was found in possession of a staggering arsenal comprising six firearms and 200 rounds of ammunition in KL.
The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, revealed that the suspect confessed to harboring sinister intentions, claiming his visit was motivated by a desire to assassinate an Israeli individual residing in Malaysia. This revelation has sparked concerns over potential security threats within the country.
The arrest unfolded following meticulous investigations, culminating in the suspect's capture at a hotel situated on Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. Further scrutiny unveiled that the 36-year-old suspect had arrived in Malaysia via a flight from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on March 12th.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered. Initial inquiries have unearthed disturbing details, suggesting the suspect procured the firearms immediately upon his arrival and conducted transactions utilizing cryptocurrency.
Authorities suspect a broader network at play, linking the apprehended individual to an Israeli accomplice already present in Malaysia.
Tan Sri Razarudin emphasized the paramount importance of safeguarding national security, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
The suspect remains in custody until March 31st, with authorities invoking stringent provisions under Section 12 of the Passport Act and Section 7 of the Firearms Act to ensure a thorough inquiry into the matter.
