On Saturday, rain and hail pounded several Chiang Mai neighbourhoods, destroying hundreds of buildings as well as electricity lines, trees, billboards, and other belongings.
Despite the air force's efforts to seed silver iodide to reduce hail, hundreds of homes in four districts sustained damage, according to the Bangkok Post. Mass blackout was also reported.
Governor Nirat Pongsitthaworn of Chiang Mai gave the go-ahead to Wat Langka in the Muang district to serve as both a command centre and a refuge for local organisations. To help those devastated by the storms, local officials have been distributing food, water, and other supplies.
