In a recent incident in Hong Kong, an individual, allegedly of Indian origin, has been arrested on charges of sexually harassing a South Korean tourist who was live-streaming her visit to the city. This distressing encounter was captured on camera, sending shockwaves through both social media and the public in China. The incident reportedly took place on September 10th, and portions of the troubling video recently gained significant attention on Chinese social media platforms.
The man, who has been identified in some unverified media reports as a 46-year-old named Amit from India, is now in custody following his arrest by the Hong Kong Police.
The victim, a South Korean vlogger known as May5w on Twitch, an Amazon-owned video streaming platform, was approached by the man near a tram stop in Central, Hong Kong, during the evening. This marked her first visit to Hong Kong, making the incident all the more unsettling.
Despite her efforts to distance herself from the man, he persistently followed her and even placed his arm on her shoulder as she continued to walk. As they neared the entrance of Central MTR station, the situation escalated when the man forcefully grabbed her arm and insisted that she accompany him.
During the encounter, May responded in English, requesting, "Please dont hold my arm," while making attempts to push the man away. However, he continued to pursue her.
Upon reaching the station's steps, the man forcefully pressed her against a wall and repeated his demand, urging her to come with him. May firmly responded, "I'm not alone," as she continued to resist the man's advances. At one point, he attempted to kiss her on the face before ultimately releasing her and departing from the scene.
