P. Tanabalan, a 37-year-old non-Muslim Malaysian citizen, recently completed a remarkable motorcycle expedition to Madinah, marking the culmination of a 40-day journey that began on March 20th. Tanabalan, who works as a meter reader for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), expressed his joy at participating in the Silaturahim Expedition, despite it being his first attempt at such a lengthy trip.
"I'm delighted to have reached Madinah on my motorcycle; this was the primary goal of my participation in the Silaturahim Expedition. I succeeded in achieving it, thanks to the financial assistance provided by many Muslim brothers and friends. I am grateful to everyone who contributed," Tanabalan shared with Sinar Harian.

While acknowledging the challenges of his latest expedition, Tanabalan found joy in exploring new territories and experiencing different cultures. He explained, "Although there are locations where non-Muslims are restricted, I respect these boundaries. While the expedition was intended for Mecca, I chose to conclude it in Madinah to immerse myself in the architecture and culture of Arab society."
Despite his non-Muslim background, Tanabalan's exploration mission transcends religious differences. He views his travels as opportunities to gain insights and respect for diverse cultures and traditions. "Before this expedition, I visited mosques, churches, and Buddhist temples to expand my knowledge. In Malaysia, we coexist with multiple ethnicities and religions, fostering mutual respect," Tanabalan remarked.
