An emergency response was delayed when a Toyota Corolla Cross obstructed an ambulance transporting a patient from the Jenjarom Clinic to the Banting Hospital. Despite repeated sirens and announcements urging the driver to yield, the vehicle continued to impede the ambulance on the fast lane, even applying brakes multiple times to disrupt its passage.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night (18th) at approximately 9:45 PM along the Klang-Banting route. For around 15 to 20 seconds, the driver ignored the ambulance's warnings, accelerating ahead and braking erratically before eventually moving to the slow lane.
Police investigations identified the vehicle's driver as the son of the cars owner. He claimed he was rushing to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to catch an international flight, fearing he would miss his departure.
Authorities are conducting further investigations under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which addresses reckless and dangerous driving.
