ICYMI: Actor Gene Hackman & Pianist Wife Betsy Arakawa Found Dead At Home With Their Dog
Once upon a time, Zendaya was Meechee. Then, Zendaya was Chani. Now, Zendaya is Felicia. The prophecy is complete. Yes, news has just come in for the actors latest major role no, not the third chapter of Dune, nor another collaboration with Luca Guadagnino. Added to Zendaya's upcoming slate is Shrek 5, in which she's confirmed to voice Shrek and Fionas ogre daughter as revealed by the films first teaser trailer. Give it a look:
It's a short teaser, but there's plenty to unpack there. Firstly, that Shrek memes perhaps the ogre's most enduring cultural presence in recent years are now canon in the Shrek-verse.
Secondly, that the designs of the characters are largely in line with how we left them in Shrek Forever After, but with a few subtle tweaks, rather than a total Puss In Boots: The Last Wish visual overhaul.
And thirdly, that we're flashing forward several years from where we left off last time, with Shrek and Fiona's little ones (first introduced in Shrek The Third) now far more grown-up. Real Shrek-heads will know that the couple had a trio of ogre babies and Zendaya voicing Felicia implies that well also see casting down the line for Fergus and Farkle. (Yes, Farkle.)
The return of Shrek was tee'd up at the end of the (astonishingly good) Puss In Boots sequel, and this fifth instalment brings back the key trio of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy. Stay tuned to see who else returns, which other A-listers join the roster, and what fairytale narrative awaits Shrek and family this time. With a Christmas 2026 release date in store, the answers won't be so far, far away.
