Penangite director Peiji will make his directorial debut in the upcoming Hong Kong film Lock War. The film, which will star prominent actor Philip Keung, Samantha Ko, Yumi Wong, Raymond Wong, and others, will be shot extensively in Penang.
The film is backed by award-winning actor Louis Koo and is based on the life of a locksmith who learns that no matter how talented he is, there are some things in the heart that simply cannot be resolved.
Earlier in December, the team was seen in George Town, and state exco members and a number of state assemblymen were seen at the "blessing ritual" that took place before the filming at Chicken Claypot House.
For a seamless start to filming, director Wu Peiji gathered the cast in a prayer session. He stated that Penang was selected as the primary filming location due to the picturesque sites and historically, and culturally significant streets.
Not only does the setting enhance the film's ambiance, but it will also boost Penang's tourism. Lock War is expected to be released nationwide by the end of 2023.
