A horrifying incident in Taiwan has left the community in shock after a 37-year-old man was brutally attacked and stabbed over 100 times by his girlfriend's ex-husband while he was sleeping at home. The assailant also tied a nylon rope around the victim's neck before leaving him for dead.
The chilling episode unfolded in Kaohsiung City, where the victim's girlfriend, Ms Yao, had divorced her husband, Mr He, due to frequent quarrels and alleged affairs. On the morning of May 6, 2022, Mr He went to his ex-wife's house for a discussion, armed with a spare key.
However, instead of encountering Ms Yao, he discovered her new boyfriend, Mr Wu, asleep in her residence wearing only underwear. Enraged by this sight, Mr He grabbed a fruit knife and launched a savage attack on Mr Wu. He stabbed him a shocking 131 times, primarily targeting his upper body and neck. During the struggle, he also used a second knife to stab Mr Wu and later hung him from a toilet doorknob using a nylon rope.
Around 18 minutes after the violent assault, Ms Yao returned to the house and found the front door locked. She heard Mr Wu's weakened voice, believing he was simply exhausted from exercising, and left without suspecting the grave situation.
Tragically, Mr Wu succumbed to excessive blood loss and asphyxiation. His lifeless body was discovered later, lying in a pool of blood.
Mr He attempted to clean the crime scene but ultimately fled, leaving the house covered in evidence of the gruesome act. He was apprehended the following day, hiding in a maintenance space above a railway station elevator.
The court initially sentenced Mr He to life imprisonment for the homicide, a decision that was later appealed. However, the recent court ruling upheld the original sentence of life imprisonment on August 23rd. Mr He still has the option to further appeal the decision.
