Who would have thought that a family outing for a meal at a fast-food joint would result in a trip to the hospital with seven stitches? Unfortunately, this is precisely what occurred to a Malaysian individual when a shutter pole fell on him at the restaurant's entrance. The incident was shared on Facebook by the family of three who visited the A&W outlet in Sungai Buloh last Saturday.
As they approached the entrance, the man suddenly called out loudly to his wife. Startled, she turned around to find him clutching the left side of his head. Upon inspecting her husband's head, she was shocked to see a considerable amount of blood. They were situated outside an electrical store adjacent to the A&W outlet and sought assistance from the store's staff, who provided them with tissues.
It was during this moment that they noticed the shutter pole on the ground. They inquired with the store staff whether the pole belonged to their establishment, but they clarified that it belonged to A&W. The store staff then informed the A&W outlet about the incident, and their personnel came out to remove the pole, leaving it adjacent to the premises.
Immediately following this, the injured man was rushed to the emergency room at Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment. Due to the significant bleeding on the left side of his head, he required seven stitches. Additionally, he underwent an x-ray to ensure there was no internal damage resulting from the impact of the heavy iron shutter.
The wife contended that this incident could have been prevented if A&W had been more cautious in placing the shutter pole and refrained from positioning it against the stone pillar along the main pedestrian path of the outlet.
Following their treatment at the hospital, the couple proceeded to Sungai Buloh IPD on Jalan Welfare to file a police report regarding the incident. She expressed her hope that A&W would learn from this incident and acknowledged their full responsibility for her husband's ordeal.
A&W has since issued an official statement in which they take full responsibility for the incident and confirm that they are conducting an internal investigation. They emphasize their commitment to customer safety and well-being and express their deep regret for the ordeal the injured individual experienced. The company has reached out to the affected party to offer apologies and assistance during their recovery process.
In the meantime, they are actively working to uncover the details of the incident and pledge to keep the public informed once they have more information.
