In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded yesterday, a six-year-old boy was trapped in a devastating fire that engulfed five houses at Lorong 16, Batu Kawa Low-Cost Housing Scheme (RPR). The incident sent shockwaves through the community, drawing immediate response from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Center.
According to a spokesperson from the operations center, they received a distress call around 1:12 PM, alerting them to the dire situation. Rushing to the scene, they were met with the harrowing news that a young victim was still inside one of the houses.

At 3:33 PM, the firefighting team found the body of the young victim. He was discovered in the rear room on the upper level of the second house. His lifeless body was then carefully recovered and entrusted to the authorities for further investigation and necessary procedures.
The incident left a trail of destruction, with two out of the five two-storey houses being entirely consumed by the flames, including the house where the young victim resided. The other three houses suffered varying degrees of damage, with damages estimated at 60%, 50%, and 20% respectively.
