KLANG - Just for reprimanding a drunk friend, a lorry driver was punched and threatened with death in an incident at his house in Kapar, last Sunday.
In the incident at about 6.40pm, the 43-year-old victim was injured in the face and body parts after struggling with the 36-year-old suspect.
North Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said, based on the initial investigation, the incident started when the victim with his children and wife while at a clinic reprimanded a man he knew who was drunk.
He said the reprimand made the suspect issue rude words to the victim and there was an argument between them.
The incident did not end there as the suspect and his friend on a motorcycle went to the victim's house.
The suspect then punched the victim and there was a scuffle before the victim's neighbor broke up with the suspect leaving the scene.
"However, the suspect returned to the victim's house carrying a white iron pipe and issued a threat that the victim would die at his hands and the victim's child would not have a father," he said when contacted by Kosmo! here today.
He stressed that the police who later received the report managed to detain the suspect at a house in Jalan Hamzah Alang at about 9pm, yesterday.
Vijaya added that the background check found that the suspect had three previous criminal records.
"The suspect is now remanded for four days and the case is being investigated according to Section 323/506 of the Penal Code," he explained.
