In a recent court hearing at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court, a 41-year-old mechanic, Syed Fakrulrazi Syed Abdul Rahman, pleaded not guilty to charges of threatening to kill and causing injury to his wife. The alleged incident involved striking her head against her nose after she refused to engage in sexual intercourse.
The admission of guilt was made by Syed Fakrulrazi Syed Abdul Rahman after the charges were read before Judge Darmafikri Abu Adam. The first charge accused him of intentionally causing severe injury to his 33-year-old wife, Rabiatul Adawiyah Abu Hassan, by striking her head against her nose.
According to the allegations, the incident took place at their residence in Taman Tanjung Minyak Perdana on February 12th, around 10 a.m. As a result, Syed Fakrulrazi was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of imprisonment up to 14 years or a fine, along with Section 326A of the same act.
The mechanic faced a second charge of criminal intimidation, accusing him of threatening to kill his wife at the same location, on the same date and time. This charge was brought under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment up to two years, a fine, or both, if convicted.
During the court proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Aliff Asraf Anuar Sharuddin objected to granting bail for the first charge. Instead, he proposed a bond of RM20,000 with one surety, along with additional conditions to ensure the victim's safety, including non-interference with the victim and mandatory reporting to the nearby police station.
On the defense side, lawyer Ishak Mohd Kari requested a lower bail amount, highlighting that Syed Fakrulrazi's previous dependents worked at a furniture shop and he recently secured a new job as a mechanic on June 1st, earning a monthly salary of RM2,000. The lawyer also emphasized the responsibility of supporting his four children, aged two to ten.
The court eventually allowed the accused to be granted bail in the amount of RM10,000 with one surety, while imposing the additional conditions requested by the prosecution.
The next mention of the case, primarily for document submission, is scheduled for July 10th. The court proceedings will continue as the legal process unfolds and more details surrounding the case emerge.
