HaiDiLao which was founded in the Sichuan Province is different from other hot pot restaurants in Malaysia. Great waiting services aside, it has plenty of free snacks and beverages for the waiting customers, free manicure and online reservation service. But the best thing about HaiDiLao is none other than the recipe self-invented by foodies and food bloggers to make your meal more than satisfying.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s go through the recipe now!
~ Minced Shrimp Tofu Puff ~
HaiDiLao’s minced shrimp is a must try. Some of you might make it into shrimp balls or shrimp noodles, but there is actually a fun and exciting way to eat the dish! All you need is 2 more ingredients: tofu puff and egg. Stuff the minced shrimp and beaten egg into the tofu puff and cook it in your favourite broth. Enjoy a “explosive” mouthfeel the moment you bite the absorbent tofu puff. Together with the different textures of the stuffed food, you will fall in love with it.
~ Beef-stuffed Tofu ~
Besides tofu puff, don’t forget to order their tofu! Make a hole in the middle of the tofu and stuff the free minced beef, chopped shallots and chopped celery. This way, you will only have to pay for the tofu, but enjoy a beef-stuffed tofu! If you prefer something more flavourful, just add the spicy sauce into your minced beef and cook it in your favourite broth!
~ Lotus Root with Minced Shrimp ~
If you still have extra minced shrimp left, you may also order a lotus root and put some minced shrimp between 2 lotus roots to be cooked. The end result? A nutritious and crispy as well as soft stuffed-vegetable!
~ Tomato Beef Soup Noodle ~
Everyone that visits HaiDiLao will NEVER miss its Lamian (Hand-pulled noodle)! Not because of its outstanding taste, but for the “dancing noodle” performance that comes with it. Therefore, the epic dish at HaiDiLao has been invented: tomato beef soup noodle. Tomato soup is one of the most popular broth here, and cooking the Lamian paired with some sliced and minced beef with it, you will get a tomato beef soup noodle with generous topping!
~ Enoki Mushroom Beef Rolls ~
No hotpot meal is perfect without enoki mushroom. But the mushroom falls apart easily when cooked in soup. Well, here is a way of solving this problem. Remember how it is served when you’re having barbecue? That’s right! Wrap a slice of beef around the mushroom before you cook it so that the mushrooms are still stuck together.
~ Sticky Cake with Sesame and Sugar ~
We know you would love to end your meal with something sweet and this sticky cake is highly recommended by a blogger on Xiaohongshu! All you need to do is order some sticky cakes and ask for some sugar from the staff, then get some sesame and ground peanuts at the sauce bar. Mix the sugar, sesame and peanuts together, and dip your sticky cakes in it.
Besides the food recipe above, you can also prepare your own unique sauce with HaidiLao soup base. Here are some to share.
1 The spicy sauce: ground peanuts, coriander, onions, oyster sauce, sesame oil, chili, sweet pepper, vinegar, minced garlic
2 The sesame paste sauce: fermented bean curd, soy sauce, cooking wine, white sugar, leek flower, vinegar, sesame paste
3 The dry chili sauce: sesame, peanuts, chili, MSG
4 The sesame-flavoured sauce: minced garlic, onions, vinegar, oyster sauce, peanuts, coriander, sesame oil
