According to a report by China Press, the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM) urged the Malaysian government to extend the Movement Control Order (MCO) until after Hari Raya.
According to the academy, Hari Raya would be another COVID-19 spreading risk as people will be returning to their hometown to celebrate Hari Raya, thus causing the R & R to be crowded as well. It's hard to control the situation and to maintain social distancing.
"Withdrawing or deregulating the MCO too early may undermine the government ’s efforts to keep people at home for 4 weeks," the academy expressed.
It has been mentioned in a notice released by the academy that the war of defeating COVID-19 has yet to come to an end. And Malaysians have sacrificed a lot hence Malaysians have to keep the efforts going.
Although lots of people wanted to be reunited with their family, especially during the festive season, everyone has to be responsible to help in fighting the disease.
The academy too pointed out that, mass gathering, including all Hari Raya's celebration activities and Ramadhan, should be restrained or banned for this year.
The government will announce its decision whether or not to extend the MCO tomorrow (April 10).
Every Malaysian is trying the best to cooperate with the government on fighting COVID-19. Let's all hope for the best!
